3/8 Tech Talk: PrimaryPad/MyBigCampus Info

This week’s Tech Talk is: PrimaryPad

As their website states,PrimaryPad is a web-based word processor designed for schools that allows pupils and teachers to work together in real-time.”

This website is a fantastic FREE and EASY way to offer a collaborative workspace for your students. Your students do not need an account, and neither do you! Create a public pad instantly and share the website link with your collaborators. Here are some videos that may help you understand how Primary Pad works –

MyBigCampus Information –

Our district has acquired MyBigCampus through our Lightspeed filtering company. Here is a quick blurb from their website –

“Want to engage students more? Provide differentiated learning? Prepare them for responsible use of 21st century tools? Or maybe create some professional learning communities? My Big Campus is the place. Here you, your staff and students can access rich learning resources and Web 2.0 tools while keeping everyone safe, securing the school network, and ensuring your schools are in compliance with the law. Collaboration tools include closed messaging, blogging, group discussions, online assignments, and event calendaring.”

The website is a lot like Facebook, only you are the administrator of your class so you can see exactly what is going on at all times. You can also collaborate with other teachers (and their students) if they are using the site too.  Here are some additional resources that might be helpful –

Both of these resources provide a GREAT way to address NETS-S Standard 2 – Collaboration/Communication:
“Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.”
