2/3 Tech Talk: Copyright Resources

This week’s Tech Talk topic is: Copyright Resources

After last week’s Tech Talk about Digital Citizenship, several people asked me for Internet sites that provide public domain/copyright free content. It is especially important to use public domain items when you plan on sharing your project with the world. (YouTube, TeacherTube, teacher website, etc.)

I put together a LiveBinder with many copyright resources. There are tabs for public domain music, sounds, and photos. I also included a tab for creating bibliographies, and another for teaching copyright. Keep in mind that all of the sites provided should be checked (for content, copyright changes, etc.) BEFORE you use them with students. Also remember…when using public domain content, you still must cite the source.

The “copyright God’s” do not expect that students K-6 will understand every detail of the law, but we CAN help our students understand the need for giving others credit for their work and ideas.
